Barnabas & Joy – KIM Mission Update

Happy New Year 2022!
Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

We wanted to update our life and ministry of Korean International Ministries (KIM Mission) briefly for our American and English speaking prayer partners.

1. KIM Mission has been continuing to support Two Korean missionaries to the border between China and North Korea. Especially since the COVID-19 situation lasted, most of the Korean missionaries to China and other regions such as Central Asia came back to Korea and now are staying in Korea waiting for the gates to be opened again. One of the current ministries of KIM Mission is to encourage them and support them financially so that they could overcome this difficult time of endless waiting. Particularly KIM Mission partners in Korea have been focusing on supporting the wandering missionaries by welcoming them to their homes and churches and providing hospitality to the missionary families as well.

2. Joy’s Ministry Trip to Korea: Joy has returned on December 19, 2021 from her mission trip to Korea on behalf of KIM Mission as Barnabas continues his Prison ministry at Tucson AZ State Prison Complex. Joy was able to visit several KIM prayer partners, individuals, Christian businesses, small groups, and local churches in Korea and ministered her virtual Bible Study/Prayer Groups in Seoul, Korea for 8 weeks. As the strong Restrictions for COVID Prevention is lingering over two years in Korea, most of our mission and prayer partners warmly welcomed Joy and Joy had more than 8 meaningful fellowships/prayer meetings in small groups as well as visits to two local churches.

3. Barnabas also has been providing virtual meetings/conferences for the missionaries who have been watching the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement (in Korean) that had been produced by Barnabas and KIM Mission on Youtube.com in 2018 and 2019. The Perspectives Seminar videos on youtube.com have been watched by over 1,500 missionaries, church leaders, and mission-oriented Christians thus far.

4. Barnabas’ Current and Future/Prospecting MinistryCurrent Prison Chaplaincy at the AZ State Prison Tucson Complex has been fruitful and Barnabas has been able to learn a lot and grow through this unique ministry since February 2021. However, Barnabas believes it’s time to transit to one of the VA Hospitals as a Hospital Chaplain (GS/Federal Government Service position) due to the upcoming status change in the US Army Reserve Chaplain – Mandatory Removal Date on May 31, 2022. Barnabas’ Army Reserve Chaplain ministry with 7453 Medical Operational Readiness Unit in Mesa, AZ also has been very effective since February 2021. To continue the Self-supporting Mission, Barnabas needs to find a more stable position such as VA Chaplain position. And thankfully, VA Baltimore, MD has selected Barnabas as a Chaplain and the Onboarding Process is going on – Barnabas completed Fingerprints, Blood Lab/Drug Test, and Physical exams on Dec 20, 2021. The next step will be the final job offer from the VA hospital. If this onboarding process finishes soon, we are moving to Baltimore, MD as soon as possible. (Barnabas also had an interview that went well with the VA Jackson, Mississippi last week. God willing, we will see which direction the Lord is going to direct us.)

5. Future: We are waiting for the COVID-19 situation to fade quickly so that we will be able to travel to the mission fields – many missionaries are waiting for us! Our great hope is to restart our active ministry travel and serve missionaries and the local Christian churches/leaders as soon as possible. Hopefully, after we move to the new environment and Barnabas adjusts to the new job/position, then the closed doors to the mission fields will be open widely in the name of Jesus our Lord! GOD IS THE LIVING GOD, AND A MISSIONARY GOD!

Our deep appreciation to you!
May the Lord bless you all our friends throughout this blessed new year 2022!
We will update you!

Faithfully,
Barnabas and Joy Kim
