KIM Mission(www.KIMMission.org)은 지난 2002년 봄 이후 22년간 진행 되어 온 미션 퍼스펙티브스/월드크리스천 무브먼트 한국어 세미나를 수료한 헌신자들, 곧 복음과 선교를 위해 제2의 헌신을 한 동역자들의 선교 공동체 소달리티Sodality입니다. 킴 미션은 글로벌 크리스천 (Global Christian, 세계를 품은 그리스도인)들의 전 세계 디아스포라 한인 선교 네트워크를 추구합니다.  우리는 미국과 전 세계 디아스포라 커뮤니티를 통해 선교 비전으로 목회하시는 한인교회 목사님들의 지도와 멘토링을 받고 있으며, 세계 다양한 선교지에서 사역하시는 선교사님들과 협력하고 있습니다.

킴미션은 지난 2010년 9월에 창립된 이래, 하나님의 인도하심과 시대적으로 계속 변화하는 상황과 여건  그리고 선교회의 현실적인 사역 중점의 조정등에 따라 근본 설립 취지와 복음의 본질은 변함없이 순수하고 견고하게 유지하되, 실제 사역 전략은 A, B, C…로 계속 수정 보완하면서 가장 현실에 적합하고 효율적인 방향으로 계속 업그레이드하고 있습니다.  다음과 같은 순서로 소개해 드립니다.

1. Korean International Ministries 의 사명선언 및 핵심 가치
(Mission Statement & Core Value)

우리는 주 그리스도 예수님의 십자가 복음을 순수하고 단순하게, 그리고 가장 효과적으로 전 세계 미전도종족들에게 증거하기 위하여 전략적으로 선교사역에 헌신하고 동참하는 평신도 중심의 복음주의 초교파 국제 선교 단체 (Evangelical Interdenominational Mission Organization)입니다. 사명 선언문은 다음과 같습니다 (이 글의 뒷 부분에 킴미션 영문 소개가 이어집니다).

MISSION STATEMENT:
We are to glorify God and to let Him known through participating world evangelization and world Christian movement, equipping recommitted people with mission strategy and knowledge, serving missionaries and people in the mission fields, and developing co-worker’s network and fellowship.

우리 KIM Mission은 훈련되고 헌신된 평신도가 중심되는 복음주의 선교사역을 지향하며, 전 세계에 흩어져 있는 코리안 디아스포라 커뮤니티 가운데서 선교적인교회 (missional churches)와 선교지향적인 교회 지도자들 (missional church leaders), 그리고 선교 현장사역자들을 존중하며, 그들과 함께 동역하는 삼겹줄사역을 추구합니다.  KIM Mission의 핵심전략은 다음과 같습니다.

(전도서 4:12 말씀의 견고한 삼겹줄처럼, 교회 (개개인 동역자)-선교현지 선교사-선교회 본부 간의 협력 및 동역 전략: 이를 위해 다른 선교단체들과의 무조건적이고 적극적인 협력과 연합을 통해 시너지 극대화를 도모)

파송 (소속)/후원/협력 선교사:
킴미션 선교사는 파송(소속) 선교사와 협력선교사가 있습니다.  킴 미션은 현재 한 분의 파송선교사님을 파송하고 있으며, 김정용 박사님/장로님으로, 북아프리카 에티오피아 아다마 Adma 에서 에피오피아 국립 아다마 공과대학교 교수로서 제자훈련 선교사역을 자비량으로 감당하고 계시는 전문인 평신도 선교사이십니다 – Jung Yong Kim (PhD, KAIST, 서울대학교, University of Texas Austin), Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering Dean (Director), Center of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Adama Science and Technology University. 킴미션은 김정용 선교사님 외에 약 50여명의 선교사님들과 협력하고 있습니다.

3. KIM Mission의 핵심 사역들
(Plan of Signature Ministries)

Korean International Ministries (KIM Mission)의 핵심사역은 선교지 현장 선교사역자들을 전략적, 재정적으로 후원하고 협력하며 선교에 직간접적으로 동역하는 전 세계 Korean Diaspora교회와평신도 지도자들을 동원, 훈련하고 네트워킹하여 세계선교에 동력을 제공하는 것입니다. 곧, “본선교회의 전략적인 연구와 훈련공급-선교현장 선교사의 사역과 경험의 극대화를 통한 복음확장–지역교회 목회자 및 평신도의 적극적인 동참으로 인한 선교와 지역교회 부흥”–이 삼겹줄 원리 (Three Strands Strategy, 전4:12)를 통해 실제적인 선교 동력을 이끌어 내는 것이 KIM Mission의 사역전략입니다.  지금까지 한인교회 및 한인선교 단체들의 선교는 목회자들의 인간관계를 따라가는 선교, 목회자가 주도하는 사역에 평신도 (회중) 들은 소극적으로 따라가며 재정을 주로 후원하는 모양으로 진행이 되어 왔습니다.  KIM Mission은 “세계를 품은 그리스도인 양성 운동 전략” (Strategy of Global Christian Movement)을 추구합니다.  킴미션은 2002년 봄 이래, 지난 22년 동안 퍼스펙티브스 세미나 World/Global Christian Movement (Mission Perspectives) Seminar (한국어) 를 미주 전역 대부분의 대도시 (약 20개) 지역과 전 세계 25개국 이상에서 60회 이상 보급해 오면서, 이 세미나 수료자 약 4,800명 가운데 특별히 훈련되고 헌신된 유능한 평신도들이 세계선교에 주도적으로 나서서, 그들이 가진 비즈니스 경험과 재원이 세계선교에 직접적으로 쓰임받음으로써 명실공히 “글로벌 크리스천”의 반열에 설 수 있도록 하는 일에 앞장서 오고 있습니다.  본 선교회가 추구하는 핵심 선교사역들은 다음과 같습니다.

자신이 속한 지역교회와 직장, 곧 세상 속에서 빛과 소금의 역할을 감당함으로써 월드 크리스천 (World/Global Christians, 세계를 품은 그리스도인) – 복의 통로로 살아가는 생활 현장 사역

전 세계 한인 선교사 및 한인 디아스포라 교회 목회자 그리고 평신도 지도자 재훈련 및 재충전 사역–선교현장과 세계 한인 디아스포라 커뮤니티를 찾아가서 (자비량으로) 섬기고 선교 동역자와 동역교회 네트웤을 확장하는 사역 (Korean Diaspora Missions Network)

선교사들의 사역 및 재정 후원을 위해 지역 교회 및 개인 후원자를 연결하는 바나바 사역

미국 국내 사역: 직접적인 미군 군목 사역 (US Military Chaplain Ministry 2009~2022) 에 이은 미국연방정부 베테랑스 병원 채플린 사역을 통한 미국참전용사 (Mental Health Homeless Veterans 대상 으로 적접적인 복음전파 및 캐어) 사역

킴미션 대표 김경환목사 (Barnabas Kim)가 최초 파송받고 한국을 떠나오던 1997년 이후 지금까지 25년간 동역 해 온 KIM Mission의 평신도 동역자들은 그 동안 60여 차례 진행된 미션 퍼스펙티브스 세미나 가운데, 해외 세미나를 전 세계 약 25 개국 (한국2회, 몽골 2회, 대만2회, 중국, 러시아 3회, 방글라데시 2회, 캄보디아, 인도네시아, 태국2회, 브라질, 필리핀등, 베트남, 타지키스탄, 키르기즈스탄, 에티오피아, 캐나다, 에콰도르, 볼리비아 등)에서 진행해왔으며 그 결과와 선교사님들의 반응은 실로 대단한 것이었습니다. 지금도 이 월드(글로벌) 크리스천 무브먼트 세미나 (Perspectives Seminar 한국어 과정)를 요청하고 있는 선교지가 여러 나라있고 2019년부터는 퍼스펙티브스 세미나 전과목 강의를 88개의 영상으로 제작, 유투브에 업로드 하여 현재까지 1500명 이상이 이 퍼스펙티브스 영상 세미나를 듣고 활용하고 있습니다 .  때로는 형편과 여건에 따라, 현지 선교사 협의회와 선교사님로부터 현지 세미나 요청이 오는대로 KIM Mission의 사역멘토 목사님들 과 현장 선교사님들까지 포함하는 강사진을 구성하여  2-3일 간의 목회자 리더쉽/선교 세미나를 개최하기도 합니다.

4. Korean International Ministries 의 재정 운용 계획
(Plan of Fundraising & Expenses)

KIM Mission은 Spiritual Wartime Life Style(선교적 전시 생활 방식)을 지향합니다. 대표 김경환 선교사는 현재 풀타임 미연방 정부 공무원 신분으로 베테랑스 병원 채플린 사역을 하기 때문에 자비량으로 섬기며, 킴미션으로 들어오는 모든 수입 재정 (교회 및 개인 후원금)은 오로지 선교사역을 위해서만 사용됩니다.  대표 바나바스김경환 선교사는 국제오엠 선교회 미주한인본부 대표직을 떠나 킴미션을 설립한 이후 지난 13년 간 자비량 선교를 위해 미육군 예비군 군목, 침례병원 채플린 (원목), 월마트 파트타임 직원, 우버/리프트택시 운전, 부부 함께 베이비 시팅 등 다양한 파트 타임 직업을 가졌으며 2020년부터 미육군 군목 풀타임 1년, 애리조나 주립교도소 채플린 1년을 거쳐 풀 타임 미연방 정부 공무원 신분의 참전용사 병원 (미국보훈병원) 채플린이 되었습니다.  믿음선교 (Faith Mission)을 지향하는 킴미션은 정해진 정기 후원금 제도가 없습니다.  이사장이나 부이사장이라고 해서 본인이 기도 중에 성령님의 감동함을 받아 특별히 헌금하는 경우가 아니면 재정부담을 갖지 않으며 모두가 자기 형편과 헌신에 맞게 재정적으로 기여하고 선교지 방문 등 사역에도 자비량으로 동참하는 것을 원칙으로 하고 있습니다.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

About God

God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2; 1 Corinthians 13:14)

About Man

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates man from God. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2)

About Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)

About Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works – only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

About Eternal Security

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. (John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

About The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under his control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1)

About The Bible

The Bible is God’s word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

About Baptism

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ. (Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Matthew 28:19-20)

About Communion

Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross.

About Mission – Sharing the Love of God

You were made for a mission. God is at work in the world, and he wants you to join him. God wants you to share His love where you are. As a student, mother, teacher, salesman, manager, or whatever you do, God wants you to reach out to the people in your life. That might mean inviting a friend to church or showing love to those in need around you.

God invites you to participate in the greatest, largest, most diverse, and most significant cause in history – his kingdom. The opportunities for normal, everyday Christians to become involved in short-term international missions are now limitless. Every corner of the world is available to you. You were saved to serve and made to go out and spread the Good News.

CORE VALUES

Acceptance in Evangelization We welcome all people, regardless of gender, race, class, sinner, or saint who want to recommit their lives and time for the world evangelization – those who want to get true rest in the dynamic mission ministries.  We want to expand the Kingdom of God and our ministry fellowship network to the end of the earth. (Matthew 11:19; 28:18-20)

Discipleship in Fellowship We are committed to continuous growth as disciples of Christ. Our ultimate goal is to become like Jesus. Our fellowship, serving one another as Body of Christ and Family of God, is one of our priorities. (Ephesians 3:13, Romans 12:10)

Generosity as Stewardship We give generously our time, money and personnel and share our resources with others. Giving is more blessed than receiving. Therefore, we encourage all to find their God-given gifts, develop and use them fully to serve God and others, for we are called to serve and find true fulfillment when we are used for eternal significance. (Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 6:38, Acts 20:35)

Holy Spirit We believe that ‘not by might nor by power, but by my (God’s) Spirit.’ We believe that God is real and active in our daily life and that the normal Christian life is a supernatural one, directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We believe in and desire all the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. (Zechariah 4:6, 1 Corinthians 14:1)

• Strategic Support for the local churches and field missionaries: Providing Mission Perspectives Seminar and Mission Consultation (Ubiquitous Global Ministry)
• Practical Support for the Missionaries: Participating short-term missions with variety of practical skills of the members (Matrix Partnership & Fellowship)
• Networking and Fellowship of Co-workers: Mobilizing new workers and deepening membership through 1-2 times of Board Meetings per year and mission trips (A Cord of Three Strands Strategy)
• Reaching out to the Military personnel through supporting military chaplaincy
