Barnabas Kim’s Update – September 2013

Dear KIM Mission Prayer Partners,

I hope and pray that this e-mail meets everything going very well with you.
I have returned to my ordinary life in the beautiful Phoenix valley, AZ, after
a series of summer missions and trainings –

* ROTC Summer Camp: at Ft Lewis in Tacoma, WA for 74 days (May 28-Aug 9)
* UFG (Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2013) in Korea, a combined exercise between Korean
Army and US Army as an interpreter for the Commanding General of my unit, 200th
Military Police CMD for two weeks, Aug 17-30)
* 8 days of RSTs and BATs (Sept 4-21)
* Brigae Unit Ministry Team (BDE UMT) Conference in Los Alamitos, CA (Sept 8-10)
* Annual Presbytery meeting of my denomination (KAPC) in Erie, PA (Sept 16-19)
* ASIST T4T (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Training for Trainers)
for 6 days (Sept 22-27) at Ft Riley in Manhattan, KS

What a great summer! It was such a exciting and one of the coolest summers for me.
Especially the ASIST T4T was one of the best and most meaningful events to me.
Since I have been applying the ASIST into my Chaplain ministry after I took the
two-day long ASIST in fall of 2011, I am now feeling much familiar with this tool
and more committed myself again for the suicide prevention and intervention.

My ministry plan in this October is only – a weekend for BAT (Battle Assembly Training).

[Now, I am going to focus on self-care for myself and my family before I am getting
busy again.]

From November I will be busy again with another mission trip to Laos, SE Asia to provide
44th Perspectives seminar for Korean missionaries in the country, and Permanent
Change of Station (PCS) moving to San Antonio, TX for the a yearlong CPE Resident
Program which starts early in December at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC).

Dear my prayer partners for the world evangelization,
I just wanted to let you know about my current life and ministry so that you may be
able to continue pray for me. Once again, thank you so much for your prayers, love
and great partnership.

Very respectfully,
Barnabas K Kim, DMin, MDiv, BA
