Blessings and Updates from Barksdale AFB

Dear Prayer Partners:

It’s a beautiful Lord’s Day!After Joy and I moved into the US Air Force base, Barksdale AFB housing, last Friday, we feel much more secure, decent, and joyful because of this small (1045sqf) but clean and inexpensive house God provided us through the US government (DoD). We  & DoVA) pray that we will be able to live in this house at least two years until I get promoted to GS-12 (hopefully) as I am going to complete my current Chaplain Advanced Education (CAVE) program for the Mental Health Specialty certification (3 years long). I personally am very satisfied and thankful for what I am doing as a Chaplain at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwi4gLHQ5tmAAxWfRzABHSfvDq4QFnoECB8QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FVAShreveport%2F&usg=AOvVaw1EOnexoDBRbCIwPBsd3rxQ&opi=89978449).

I have been enjoying sharing the Word of God every Wednesday ( for the everyday for the Afternoon Prayer meeting with 25-35 Staff virtually), every Friday Chapel at 9:30am for the Mental Health Veterans at 9th floor that I created for the MH Vets who are not able/allowed to attend the Sunday Chapel service at 2nd floor, and once a month for the main Chapel Sunday Chapel services. I also just have started a new program SUDs (Substance Use Disorder) Group (Spirituality Group, monthly with 8-10 Veterans), and additional Chapel Services for the outpatient (mostly homeless who stay at the Shelters of Volunteers of America) twice a week through virtually plus once a month in-person. My first Spirituality Group meeting with the SUDs Veterans was so good and meaningful as the 10 participants claimed that they all were believers, and agreed to directly talk about Jesus Christ in the group! The first song that I prepared for the group was “You Raised Me Up!” (Josh Broban), and the Topic was “Routine in Your Daily Life – What You Practice/Miss.”  As most of them were desiring to restore their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health as well as relationship with God, I listened empathetically to their stories (some in tears), shared the Word of God about Jesus Christ who raises us up and modeled the routines in his daily life, and my own stories so that they were encouraged through the group meeting. The hour-long group meeting seemed too short to everyone, and they did not want to leave the group meeting room after the end of the meeting.

My wife Joy is also doing very well. She has met two Korean American (married to former American Soldiers) ladies here in Shreveport and now they gather together almost every week for the Communion of the saints, Bible Study, and prayers! We pray that the Lord will use our new home on post for more people who will attend the women’s prayer meetings.

It’s very hot here in northern Louisiana (every day over 100 degrees Fahrenheit) without rain.  We pray that all of you, our Prayer Partners, are well in His grace! Praise our Lord Jesus who is the Living God and the Missionary God!

Thank you for your love and prayers!

Faithfully,
Barnabas and Joy
